THE PEACE, NICKLIN & BEEBEE FAMILIES OF WALSALL

Eliza PEACE Black
daughter of Henry Peace and Elizabeth Holmes.
Eliza was born in l812 in Walsall.  Her sister Elizabeth married George Nicklin, a
Saddler, another sister Mary, married Benjamin Beebee and another sister Ellen
married another Benjamin Beebee who was mayor of Walsall in l881.

Eliza had married a William Black from Scotland who was a draper.  William died in
l853 and never saw his youngest child born after his death. Together they owned
several apartments/homes/townhomes on Hatherton Street in Walsall.  They lived at
123 Hatherton.  The Nicklins also lived in this complex of residences as did the
Beebees and other family members.

Lizzie Peace Black, one of Eliza's children b. l851, married a James Edward Williams
of Willenhall in l871.  They traveled to Washington State and are considered
pioneers here where he opened and owned coal mines as a mining engineer.  My
grandmother was their youngest child.

Eliza Peace Black died in l896 in Walsall.
Her other children were, William, Hepzaba, Mary, Eunice, Frederick, Annie and
another girl who married a man named Adams.

Annie Black married Simeon Burns.  Fredrick Peace Black who married a Carolyn Julia
Reece and had a son Fowler Middleton Black.

The families were large and extremely close.
Anyone who has a Peace connection or information regarding any of these families
listed would be very welcome to contact me.  There are Adams children...
Fowler Middleton Black and Edith Gilson may have had children.  Certainly there were
many Nicklin children, one being Sir Reuben Nicklin of Australia.  Beebees are
plentiful...but it's difficult to know which ones are "mine."

I have two wonderful samplers that Eliza Peace made at age 7  in l818.
My Great grandmother, Lizzie Peace Black Williams, died in l932 in Seattle, WA
leaving five adult children.  She had been widowed in l900.  She was, quite frankly,
a stunningly beautiful woman in each and every photo I have.  My mother remembered
her very well and said always that she was "very British to her last day and always
a lady."
