If you have any ancestors buried in this cemetery with a grave marker, you will need to contact Sandwell Bereavement Services to ensure that the memorial is not removed as the interpretation of 'what is safe' is open to debate based on topple tests that have taken place in other cemeteries.
Please see the following notices which are placed high on the tree trunks and were therefore difficult to read and photograph.
Part of the above document is transcribed below:
Removal of memorials and kerb sets that have fallen into disrepair (Article 16). Those without inscriptions will be removed; those with inscriptions will be recorded and photographed then removed and placed within grave space below ground level with the headstone retained in a safe upright position or laid flat so the inscription can be seen but below ground level for easy maintenance. "Lawn" type stones to be re-fixed with ground anchor. Any architecturally and historically interesting memorials to be retained where possible. Please note that this has nothing to do with the church but concerns to consecrated area of the local municipal cemetery.
