Here are a selection of photos taken at Lakeside, Amblecote, a housing estate which was developed in the late 1980's. The land had previously been a substantial area used for mining coal and clay.
These photos were taken on 9 January 2010 and depict the longest cold spell to hit the Black Country for what must be at least 27 years!

The following three photos show the football pitch, which is now a sea of snow.
Brierley Hill flats can be seen in the distance.
Very apt!!!
The frozen lake. Dancing on ice - definitely not. There are many thin areas of ice despite its beauty.
Another view of the frozen lake with its craters of snow and ice.
The Canadian geese making their way to a shallow area of the lake that has managed to avoid the advance of the ice.
Going in both directions.
The advance of the geese!
Too cold! The geese lay down to retain their body heat.
The photo below was taken in January 1987 when the winter then, was considered to be the coldest for 25 years.
