This website is dedicated to submissions, requests and organizations/businesses that are involved with the heritage and preservation of the Black Country. It also provides a source of local information which can be found under 'Black Country Gazette'.
If you have an old photograph to share or want to identify a person or location, please forward the image as a jpeg file to info@bcgfh.co.uk and we will add it to this website. We want this website to evolve the way YOU want it to so please don't be shy and send in your old family photos or anything to do with the history of the Black Country and it will be added to a page specific to you. More info below.
Alternatively, if you want to post a message for information regarding your Family History, please send us an email and we will add your request to 'Black Country Messages'.
Have you ever wanted to showcase your photographs on the Internet? Do you have a story or memories of the Black Country that you would like to share with the world? Have you considered setting up a website but for various reasons it has not materialised?
If so, we can help you to make this possible. All we ask is that you are the owner of the material you submit or have permission to use it. We will provide you with a webpage for which you choose the title and we will add your content at no charge whatsoever. You can provide additional photos etc at any time and we will update your page. You can choose to show your full name, Christian name only, or if you wish, you may use a pseudonym. There will be no changes made to your written work without your consent and the copyright of all material you submit will remain with you or the owner from whom you have received permission. (Please note that all content must be suitable for public viewing and be connected to the Black Country).
If you are an organization or business that is involved with the heritage and preservation of the Black Country and would like to add some information to promote your cause, please contact us. The webspace is free - all we ask is that you provide the content for us to add to your page.
Please note that this is a non-profit making website. It is one of a family of six websites which are all available to view at no charge whatsoever. Do not forget to check out our other five websites because there are over 4000 images of the Black Country across all websites, possibly the largest collection of Black Country images online. These encompass nearly 1400 real photographic images of our present day Black Country and over 400 old postcards, memorabilia and a treasure trove of images which evoke memories of the past. Additionally, there are images of churches and headstones. All are free resources for anyone researching their family history and who may have ancestors who died in the Black Country.
The six websites currently have over 4000 images, but please note that all our websites are works in progress and are added to regularly. The websites have been online for less than 18 months, but we have already received over 19000 visits across all websites in this very short period of time. Each of the websites rank highly in Google, either number one or in the top five. Additionally, this website, Black Country Images (.co.uk) and the three Black Country Churchyards and Cemeteries websites, have a Page Rank of 1 and Black Country Genealogy & Family History has reached an amazing Page Rank of 3 in less than 18 months!
We are working on a seventh website too which will be published soon. The photos we are adding to this new website will raise the amount of our Black Country images online to over 5000. Watch this space!!
A big 'Thank You' for visiting our websites which we hope you find informative and enjoyable.
We would also like to say a special 'Thank You' to everyone who has contributed their own material and we look forward to many more contributions.
